Advance Food Receives Sysco Top Supplier Award

The distinction was presented to the Oklahoma City-based food manufacturer at the distributorship's 11th Annual Supplier Recognition Awards Ceremony held here. This is the first time that Advance Food Co. has won Sysco's Supplier of the Year honor. The company has been a member of Sysco's Top 100 Suppliers in all 11 years of the program, including four appearances as a Top 10 Gold Partner.

In addition to Advance Food, the remaining 2005 Gold Partner suppliers, in order, include Ventura Foods LLC (Brea, CA); Campbell's Soup Company (Camden, NJ); Lyons Magnus (Fresno, CA); Schreiber Foods (Green Bay, WI); Prairie Packaging Inc. (Bedford Park, IL); Lamb Weston (Eagle, Idaho), Starbucks Coffee (Seattle, WA); SCA Tissue North America (South Glens Falls, NY); and Dessert Inspirations - a division of the HJ Heinz Company (Pittsburgh, PA).

The 2005 Supplier Recognition Awards Ceremony recipients were selected from a group of more than 2,000 eligible suppliers located across the world. All finalists were selected based on input from Sysco's broadline distribution companies in the United States and Canada and the company's corporate merchandising services and supply chain services departments.

Sysco also announced Gold, Silver and Bronze medal honorees for the 2005 Charles A. Hastreiter Horizon Award, an honor named for Sysco's late assistant vice president of merchandising services recognizing a supplier, product and Sysco business center for superior performance in bringing an innovative new product to market.

Sysco's Baugh Supply Chain Cooperative (BSCC) Beef department was honored with the Gold award for its efforts in the successful launch of Ranch & Grill Beef. The Silver honor was presented to Sysco's BSCC Seafood department for their Portico Seafood product line. The Bronze honor was awarded to the Cheesecake Factory (Calabasas, CA) and Sysco's BSCC Bakery department for their efforts in bringing the exclusive Sysco Branded dessert lines to market.

Three companies also received Sysco's Second Annual Heritage Award, presented to the top Women and Minority Owned Businesses that supply Sysco Brand products. This year's recipients included Gold Medalist Carita's Ranch BBQ (Boerne, Texas), Silver Medalist Ocean Duke Corporation (Tampa, FL) and Bronze Medalist Renaissance Man International (Savannah, GA).

SYSCO also presented five 2005 Supply Chain Premier Carrier awards from a group of approximately 800 eligible carriers across the United States and Canada.
