Bunzl Acquires NYC-based Non-foods Supplier

Retail Resources, a privately owned company based in New York City with facilities in Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta, provides distribution services for store supplies, such as checkout and merchandise bags, janitorial-sanitary maintenance items, labels, boxes and other paper products, as well as specialized expense control systems.

This is the second acquisition by Bunzl this month. Bunzl had purchased A.W. Mendenhall, a redistribution company headquartered in Chicago with warehouses in Chicago and St. Louis.

Mikel Eisenberg, who controlled Retail Resources with Harry Katz, will continue managing sales and operations for the business. Katz will work part-time during a transition period.

"The acquisition of Retail Resources fits will with our strategy of continuing to grow our business in certain specialist areas, such as non-food retail," said Patrick Larmon, president and ceo for Bunzl Distribution. "The acquisition will broaden our platform for servicing this interesting and growing sector of our business."
