Carrabba’s Italian Grill has named Mike Kappitt president of the casual-dining brand, parent company Bloomin’ Brands announced Tuesday.

In his new role, Kappitt—who most recently served as chief marketing officer of Bloomin’ Brands—will oversee development and operations for the Carrabba’s chain.

“Mike’s proven leadership and brand-building talents are perfect for the Carrabba’s brand,” Liz Smith, CEO of Bloomin’ Brands, said in a statement. “Consumers continue to recognize Carrabba’s as their favorite Italian restaurant and with the introduction of a new menu, this is an exciting time for Carrabba’s.”

Kappitt, who joined Bloomin’ Brands in 2011, initially served as CMO of the operator's Outback Steakhouse brand. Prior to that post, he held the role of CMO for Burger King's North American segment.
