Dot Foods Pitches In to Buy Truck for Tech Students

"With 800 trucks traveling 87 million miles in 2008, Dot Foods has a vested interest in supporting education for diesel mechanics, so Ivy Tech's program was an ideal fit for our charitable efforts," said Gina Ruffcorn, chair of the division’s charitable contribution committee.

Ivy Tech officials say interest is high for a diesel mechanics program, but the Richmond campus does not currently have a diesel truck for hands-on training. "Dot has put forward these funds to challenge others in the community to match the amount to purchase a truck," said Diana Pappin, executive director of resource development with the Ivy Tech Foundation.

Dot Foods Inc. carries 83,000 products from 500 food industry manufacturers and is the largest food redistributor in the United States.
