Dot Foods Taps Ortec Software for Route Planning

The Shortrec software will be integrated with existing Dot Foods systems and provide the opportunity to maximize fleet utilization, reduce planning time, better manage equipment selection, handle mixed temperature loads and combining inbound PO's with outbound orders in a single transportation planning schedule.

Joe Tracy, executive vice president of operations of the family owned business that was awarded the ID Trailblazer Award in 2003, said: "We were looking for a route planning and dispatch tool that would do a better job of automating our inbound routing. Ortec took the time to understand our operations, model our data and demonstrate their software would save us miles and money"

The software is set to go live in November or December, according to both companies.
