Why restaurants are searching for new ways to build sales

This week’s episode of the RB podcast "A Deeper Dive" features a discussion between Jonathan Maze and Peter Romeo about companies’ latest sales-building strategies.

In this week’s edition of the Restaurant Business podcast "A Deeper Dive," I discuss these strategies with Editor-at-Large Peter Romeo.

The industry is in a slow-growth period, as same-store sales and traffic have been weak in recent years. That has prompted companies to seek out new ways to generate revenue, including subscription programs, prepaid meals, licensing, takeout and, of course, delivery.

We discuss these issues and why you should expect more such efforts in the future. We also talk about whether delivery is the solution to sales over the long term.
