Food Safety is Top Priority, Tyson ceo Pledges

John Tyson, who is also ceo of the company, pledged that Tyson would continue to monitor its products as global concerns over bird flu persist.

Tyson, speaking here yesterday at a luncheon sponsored by the local Chamber of Commerce, noted that while the flu hasn't turned up in the company's poultry supplies, said the company is checking and rechecking its birds and strengthening the precautions it already takes to guard against disease.

U.S. poultry firms have said infection here is less likely because of the production methods they use, and Tyson noted specific practices
