Hasty Appointed President of Sysco-Cleveland

HOUSTON - Alan E. Hasty has been named president and ceo of Sysco Food Services of Cleveland, Inc., announced its corporate headquarters here.

Hasty, who was president and ceo at Sysco Food Services of Virginia, located in Harrisonburg, Va., assumed his post Aug. 30.

Hasty, 46, began his Sysco career in 1981 as a marketing associate for the company's Orlando, FL, operation. He progressed to various sales and merchandising positions and in 1985 was named director of merchandising. Hasty was promoted to vice president of merchandising at Sysco's North Carolina subsidiary in 1985 and in 1990 he transferred to the Virginia operation to serve in the same position.

In 1993 he was appointed executive vice president of that company, then assumed the additional role of chief operating officer the following year, and in 1995 he was promoted to his current role.

Hasty is a native of Bridgewater, Mass., and a graduate of Stetson University, located in Deland, Fla., where he earned a bachelor of business administration degree in 1981. He and his wife, Dorci, have two sons and will relocate to the Cleveland area in the near future.
