ID NEWS: Ritz acquires Boone's, also adds to DSR force

Ritz FoodService, Santa Rosa, CA, is ending its fiscal year this week at $62 million, with expectations of about $66 million for the calendar; moreover, the UniPro-member broadliner expects a big boost to volume in 2004, thanks to the acquisition of the assets of Boone's Wholesale this summer.

Headquartered in Redding, CA, Boone's, another UniPro member, rings up $12 million in annual sales. Ritz will retain the distributor's distribution center as a separate branch operating under the Ritz name, as it is located at the northern end of Ritz's California territory.

In addition, Ritz has taken on seven members of the DSR force of Smart & Final Foodservice, Stockton, CA, which has just been acquired by Sysco Corp., Houston.
