ID NEWS: Three VA produce houses merge

Three Virginia produce houses, all members of Pro*Act, have merged: Baker Bros. Produce Co., Richmond, VA, Quality Produce Co., Roanoke, VA, and Saville Produce Co., Newport News, VA. The newly created company has taken the name Produce Source Partners (PSP).

The goal is to effect better service throughout the state, explains Norman Saville, president of PSP. "With the continuing growth of restaurant chain businesses, we felt that we needed to partner with other distributors who focus on this aspect of growth."

All three distributors already handle a large volume of chain business, facilitated by their mutual membership in Pro*Act, Saville adds.

Collectively, PSP's three distribution centers service more than 3,000 restaurants, schools, convenience stores and healthcare centers in the state.
