ID NEWS: USF ceo announcement expected within few weeks

Royal Ahold, Zaandam, The Netherlands, is speaking to a "number of candidates" with a foodservice background for the USF ceo spot and hopes to make an announcement within the next few weeks, Fritz Schmuhl, an Ahold spokesman, has told ID. (Bob Tobin, an Ahold USA veteran, was appointed interim ceo of USF, following the resignation of that post in May by Jim Miller.)

The $18-billion American distributor is in a "sub-optimal" state right now, says Anders Moberg, newly approved ceo of Ahold. However, "I genuinely believe that we can build upon, what is today, a collection of leading regional assets," he said.
