The Cornerstone Award is presented annually to a leader who has shown extraordinary commitment in supporting the association's efforts on behalf of the industry and has played an integral role in leading IFDA. Doerle served on the IFDA Board of Directors for 16 years, is a past chair of the association, and was the first woman to serve on the IFDA Board. She stepped down from her service on the IFDA Board this month. The award was presented before nearly 500 industry executives attending the IFDA Partners Executive Forum.

"Carolyn has consistently gone above and beyond in her efforts to strengthen IFDA and is truly a part of the fabric of the association," said Mark S. Allen, president and ceo of IFDA.

"Carolyn was instrumental in the negotiations and deliberations that made IFDA an independent organization on Jan. 1, 2003, and was a fierce proponent of the need to have an independent organization dedicated to the needs of foodservice distributors," said Mr. Allen. "Carolyn was an integral member of the transition team that developed IFDA's strategic direction and provided the leadership necessary to ensure IFDA got off to a strong start. I can say with a great degree of certainty, that without Carolyn's efforts, we would not be where we are today. She is a true leader and is continuously generous with her time and counsel."

"It has been a pleasure and honor serving and working with the IFDA Board," said Doerle in receiving the award. "We have come a long way over the past decade, both in our industry and in the work this organization performs on our behalf. My experience in working with so many of you has been very rewarding. Serving as chairperson of IFDA from 2000 to 2002 and receiving this Cornerstone Award are truly highlights of my 26-year career in this industry."
