The parent of Famous Dave's has hired an expert in international development to lead its franchising and real estate department.

Minnesota-based BBQ Holdings this week named Manny Packing as its new VP of franchise sales and real estate. Packing, who has more than two decades of restaurant industry experience, was most recently the director of international real estate and construction for Inspire Brands. Before that, he held similar roles with Buffalo Wild Wings, Pinkberry and Yum Brands.

"The restaurant space is constantly evolving, especially today, and with over two decades of experience in the industry, I look forward to leveraging my expertise to help expand Famous Dave's footprint across the United States and the globe," Packing said in a statement.

BBQ is the owner of six concepts that account for 296 locations in three countries. About three-quarters of those restaurants are franchised. The company recently acquired the Village Inn and Bakers Square chains, and has said it's on the lookout for more brands.

"The BBQ Holdings portfolio is expanding rapidly and we are proud to have an experienced industry veteran like Manny to guide our growth," said CEO Jeff Crivello in a statement. "Manny will help us partner with the right candidates as we expand our footprint across the country and take our brand to the next level."
