Starbucks COO elected to Amazon’s board

Rosalind Brewer becomes the online retailer’s second African-American woman board member.

Starbucks Chief Operating Officer Rosalind Brewer has been elected to the board of Amazon.com, the company announced in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Monday. Brewer becomes the second African-American woman to serve on the online retailer’s board.

Before joining Starbucks in February 2017, Brewer served as president and CEO of Sam’s Club.

Amazon, which has come under pressure to diversify its 10-member board, now has four women members.
