Mad Cow Update: Feds Search for Birth Herd as Washington Firm Recalls Meat

WASHINGTON - As federal investigators search for the birth herd of the Mad Cow disease-afflicted cow, a Washington State firm has voluntarily recalled more than 10,000 pounds of raw beef that may contain meat tainted with the disease.

At the same time, Agriculture Secretary Ann Venneman urged Americans not to panic and offered reassurances of the safety of the nation's food supply.
