McDonald’s asks fans to craft love tweets to its burgers

The burger chain will award a $10,000 Bling Mac ring to the most creative ode.

McDonald’s wants consumers to embrace their inner Shakespeares, Nerudas and Dickinsons.

The burger chain is giving away a $10,000 diamond-and-gem-encrusted ring to the author of the most witty, comedic and romantic tweet professing adoration for McDonald’s burgers.

The Valentine’s Day campaign coincides with the chain’s limited-time rollout of its iconic burger in Grand Big Mac and Mac Jr. variations. It is also part of an ongoing celebration of the Big Mac’s 50th anniversary this year.

The Bling Mac ring features seven stackable 18-karat gold rings made of diamonds and gems to form each layer of the Big Mac. Orange sapphires stand in for the brand’s Special Sauce.

Numerous chains are running creative Valentine’s promotions, including Wingstop, which launched a toll-free hotline to provide romance tips, wing presentation advice and a get-in-the-mood mixtape. The hotline encourages callers to order the wing chain’s $25 Wing Luv Kit, which features a heart-shaped box with a gift card and skewers, cellophane, tissue paper and ribbon to create a “wing bouquet.”
