Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen customers can now get rewards for chicken sandwiches and other items they order.

The Miami-based chicken chain on Thursday revealed its first-ever loyalty program, giving customers points based on how much they spend.

The company has also created a new meal specifically for its new Popeyes Rewards members. The “Welcome To The Popeyes Fam” meal will be available for loyalty members either on the company’s app or online and features eight pieces of chicken, one large side and four biscuits. Members who order the meal between now and July 1 will receive 500 bonus points.

Members of Popeyes’ loyalty program earn points with each transaction, including 10 points for every dollar spent on the app, bonus points on combos and family meals and rewards for personalized challenges and other exclusive benefits. Customers who sign up for the program can receive a free apple pie, regular side or small drink.

Loyalty programs have become vital in the restaurant business, but especially in a fast-food sector that has been pushing them with increasing aggressiveness since the outset of the pandemic. Popeyes’ sister chain Burger King and its top rival McDonald’s have recently started their own loyalty programs, which enable companies to market directly at customers.

Bruno Cardinali, Popeyes chief marketing officer, said the company’s goal was “to create a perfect loyalty program that matches and rewards” its customers’ enthusiasm.
