McCain Snack Wins Sysco Top Supplier Award

HOUSTON. - Sysco Corp. has recognized McCain Snack Foods, Oak Brook, IL, as its 2004 Supplier of the Year during a presentation at its10th Annual Supplier Recognition Awards Ceremony here, according to the company.

This is the first year McCain Snack Foods has won the Supplier of the Year honor and its 10th consecutive year as a member of Sysco's Top 100 Suppliers. In addition to McCain Snack Foods, the 2004 Gold Partner suppliers, in order, included Advanced Food Co., Prairie Packaging Inc., Ventura Foods LLC, Heritage, McCormick and Co., Appetizers And Inc., Campbell's Soup Co., Dixie Foodservice and Pactiv Corp.

The fiscal 2004 Supplier Recognition Awards Ceremony recipients were selected from a group of approximately 3,000 eligible suppliers located across the world. All finalists were selected based on input from Sysco's broadline distribution companies in the United States and Canada and the company's corporate merchandising services and supply chain services departments.

The Gold Medal 2004 Horizon Award, an honor recognizing a supplier and a Sysco business center for superior performance in bringing an innovative new product to market, was presented to National Dairy Brands, Wellington, FL, and Sysco's Dairy department for their efforts in the successful launch of Wholesome Farms Supreme Liquid Gold Clarified Butter, an instant use, 100% Grade AA unsalted butter developed and offered exclusively by Sysco.

Cargill Meat Solutions and Sysco's Pork department were Silver Medalists in the Horizon Award competition for their White Marble Farms Supreme Fresh Premium Pork and the Bronze honor was presented to Schwan's Foodservice and Sysco's Convenience department for their efforts in bringing the Arrezzio Take & Bake Pizza to market.

In addition, three companies received Sysco's First Annual Heritage Award, which recognizes the top Women and Minority Owned Businesses that supply Sysco-brand products. This year's recipients included Gold Medalist Carla's Pasta, South Windsor, CT, Silver Medalist Renaissance Man Foodservice, Savannah, GA, and Bronze Medalist All Round Foods, Plainview, NY.

Sysco also presented five 2004 Supply Chain Premier Carrier awards from a group of approximately 800 eligible carriers across the United States and Canada. Recipients included Schulz Transportation Services, Inc., Lincoln, NE/Southwest Region, Sundown Express, Inc., Roanoke, VA/Northeast Region, Lessors, Inc., Prior Lake, MN/Southeast Region, Veteran's Truck Line, Burlington, WI/Midwest Region, and Miller Brothers Co., Inc., Hyrum, Utah/Western Region).
