OAK BROOK, Ill. (February 16, 2010)—McDonald’s USA recently announced it has selected The Martin-Brower Company, a food and paper distributor for many of McDonald's restaurants, as the 2009 Supplier of the Year. McDonald’s USA unveiled the U.S. Supplier of the Year Award at the recent U.S Supplier Summit, an annual gathering of key U.S. McDonald’s suppliers, held in Oak Brook Hills, near its Oak Brook, Ill. headquarters.

Martin-Brower has provided services to McDonald's Corporation since 1956. Today the company is McDonald's largest distributor in the United States, Canada, Ireland and Latin America.

“Martin-Brower has been a trusted supplier for nearly 54 years and continues to demonstrate outstanding business leadership. Their passion, collaboration and commitment to innovation and overall operational excellence have helped build McDonald’s success in delivering over 226 million cases of product to more than 9,600 restaurants each year,” said Dan Gorsky, Sr. Vice President, McDonald’s North America Supply Chain. “Aligning with trusted suppliers such as Martin-Brower, allows McDonald’s to continue to serve our valued customers through their distribution network.”

The McDonald’s U.S. Supplier of the Year Award is presented annually to the food, paper or product supplier that makes the most significant impact on, and contribution to, McDonald’s U.S. business results from the previous year. The award recognizes criteria including commitment to quality and food safety, product, equipment and process innovation, exemplary customer service and value.

"This is a great honor for everyone at Martin-Brower. We are grateful to our employees who work tirelessly on behalf of our customers, for our tremendous supply chain team at McDonald’s and to all of the McDonald’s Owner Operators and their teams who we have the pleasure of serving daily. Through our shared vision and committed teamwork, we have been able to achieve this fantastic distinction” said Greg Nickele, CEO The Martin-Brower Company.

According to Gorsky, Martin-Brower won the Supplier of the Year Award for showing outstanding leadership and delivering on numerous service level enhancements, driving innovation, and making life easier for McDonald’s restaurant employees. Because managers and crew saved time with inventory counts, order placement, and deliveries, they are able to focus more attention on customers in the restaurant.
