Merchants Foodservice Joins Produce Alliance



Andy Mercier, president of the ID Top 50 distributorship, said: "Consistent quality, purchasing programs and the ability of Produce Alliance to acquire and service national and regional multi unit chain accounts, were the compelling reasons that drove us to join the Alliance. As a member of Produce Alliance we can better achieve our goals."

Merchants Foodservice, known to most of their customers as "Big M", has two state-of-the-art facilities. One is located in Jackson, MI, and the other in Central Alabama south of Birmingham. Merchant's Foodservice distribution area is Alabama, Mississippi, parts of Louisiana and the panhandle of Florida.

"These centers will play a major roll in our growth strategy," explained Joe Collier, partner/ director of distribution and business development for Produce Alliance.

Collier said Produce Alliance will help Merchants Foodservice drive its business through the produce specialty category.

With Merchants Foodservice, Produce Alliance has 34 members with 37 distribution centers.
