The 22-unit Not Your Average Joe’s chain has reached outside of the restaurant industry to hire its first chief marketing officer: Rob Gotti, a veteran marketer of retail products.
Gotti will develop an integrated marketing strategy, assist the chain in learning more about its customers through data and research, and work on ways of bolstering loyalty, said NYAJ’s CEO and founder Steve Silverstein.
“Rob brings a fantastic combination of digital knowledge coupled with a deep insight of strategic marketing to this new role,” Silverstein said in a prepared statement. “His leadership and proven success with brand growth is a perfect for our growth and expansion plans – we’re going to put a lot on his plate.”
Gotti was most recently a marketing consultant with a company he started, Rockmeadow Ventures. Previously he worked for Boston Beer Co., a New England brewer, for 12 years, rising to the position of director of digital strategy.
He earlier worked for Philip Morris USA, a company with a diverse portfolio of consumer products.
The hiring is the latest step by NYAJ’s in building an infrastructure for further growth. Most of the chain’s units are located in the Boston area, but it has extended as far west as Pennsylvania and as far south as the Washington, D.C., area.
