Performance Foods to acquire Ky. company

(Dec. 4, 2009)—Goochland Count-based Performance Food Group this morning announced the acquisition of Somerset Food Service, a broadline foodservice distribution company in Somerset, Ky.

The transaction is expected to close by the end of December.

Somerset Food Service, founded in 1962, is an independent broadline distributor specializing in serving independent operators and multi-unit regional and national chains, schools, and health-care foodservice operations.

The company was acquired by its current owners in 1988 and employs about 130 people.

Performance Food Group is a national distributor of food service products with more than 65 facilities.
