Andrews began building its new facility last year on 6.2 acres at 717 E. Industrial Blvd., in Pueblo West. George Andrews III, president and ceo, said the company began its move to the new location two weeks ago.
The move consolidates operations that were once in three locations, including the 55,000 sq.-ft. building on South Main Street that has been one home of Andrews Foodservice Systems for years. Located along the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo, the Andrews property is one of the prime sites for HARP-related developments with plenty of open land.
"Right now, we don't have any plans for that building," Andrews said. "We'll be looking to either develop it or sell it."
In addition to the Main Street location, Andrews was occupying 30,000 sq. ft. in the old Otterstein building on Erie and 10,000 sq. ft. in Santa Fe Storage. He said the new facility would provide 100,000 sq. ft. for warehousing operations and 8,600 sq. ft. for office space.
The company broke ground on the building last April. The cost of construction was estimated at $5-$7 million.
