Quiznos has promoted Susan Lintonsmith from global chief marketing officer to president and CEO of the toasted sandwich brand.

Lintonsmith, who joined Quiznos in 2012, takes the reins from Katie Scherping, the chain's CFO who had been serving as interim president and CEO since last month’s departure of then-CEO Doug Pendergast.

"Susan has a real passion for the restaurant industry and has been a vital contributor to Quiznos’ successful brand evolution over the last four years," Doug Benham, Quiznos chairman, said in a statement. "During her tenure, Susan has consistently translated menu and marketing innovation into operational value.”

Scherping is leaving the chain for a role unrelated to restaurants, Quiznos said. As part of its announcement, the chain also named Christina Maxwell its new chief financial officer.

Quiznos has faced a number of challenges in recent years, resulting in a significant reduction in restaurant counts and its filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2014.
