Shamrock to Buy Parts of Regional Distributorship



According to the regional publication, Shamrock Foods is planning to expand its operations in the Southwest. Distribution Plus, Inc., Albuquerque, NM, is a subsidiary of the Irish Dairy Board. The sale is to be completed by July 1.

"We believe the New Mexico food service market is poised for tremendous growth and now is the opportunity to accelerate it," Kent McClelland, president and coo of Shamrock Foods, was quoted as saying.

In the ID study, Shamrock Foods, founded in1922, reported sales of $1.3 billion last year, up from $1.1 billion the previous year. A member of DMA, Markon, IMA and SEFA, Shamrock Foods has 10,000 accounts and its executives said in the report that expansion is its key issue this year.
