Speedway to close 100 Dunkin’ Donuts kiosks

Convenience-store chain Speedway will close 100 in-store Dunkin’ Donuts kiosks over the course of the next 15 months, the coffee-and-donuts chain’s parent announced Thursday during a presentation to investors and analysts.

The self-serve units set to shutter generate just 0.1 percent of Dunkin’ Donuts sales, Dunkin’ Brands said, and their closures will enable the chain to re-enter a number of areas with freestanding units. Speedway will stay on as a Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee.

Dunkin’ Brands reiterated the company’s guidance to open a net 410 to 440 U.S. Dunkin' Donuts units by the end of fiscal 2015, excluding the Speedway closures.
