Sysco further penetrates hotel supply market

Guest Supply Inc., Monmouth, NJ, a specialty hotel supplies subsidiary of Sysco Corp., has completed the acquisition of Franklin Supply Co., Louisburg, NC, a $19-million supplier of housekeeping and other supplies to the lodging industry. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"The acquisition of Franklin Supply solidifies Guest Supply's position as the market leader in the southeastern United States and expands our reach into this market," comments Charles H. Cotros, Sysco chairman and ceo. "Franklin's customer base of more than 2,000 will now have access to Guest Supply's broad array of products, as well as the many items and services Sysco supplies."

Separately, Sysco has stated in a regulatory filing that it expects capital expenditures of $425-$450 million for fiscal 2002.
