Sysco's Schnieders to CIA Grads: Change the World through Food

HYDE PARK, NY - Richard J. Schnieders, chairman and ceo, Sysco Corp., Houston, challenged the lastest class of graduates of the Culinary Institute of America here to change the world through food.

Addressing 69 graduates at the college's commencement earlier this month, Schnieders said: "The work you have chosen - food - is the most honorable and important there is. Much of what is wrong with the world today could be made much better if we think about food and its impact on our lives and on the lives of every human on the planet."

Schnieders challenged the graduates to contemplate how to change lives "through your most sacred word."

"Whether you work in a 10-person kitchen or a 50,000-person corporation, if you are creative enough; if you are open enough; and if you are patient, you can change the world."
