Restaurateurs fund a tech entrant

Chef Jose Andres and other prominent foodservice figures have invested in a guest management system that ties a restaurant’s POS system to online reservation services like Open Table.

The other investors in Venga include Bill and Pat Anton, the former airport concessionaires; Phillip Cummins, a partner in The Living Room and Delphine multi-concept operator Innovative Dining Group; Brad Zions, co-founder of the Lemonade restaurant chain; and Gus Dimillo, owner of Passion Food Hospitality, a multi-concept company in the Washington, D.C. area.

With the additional contributions of venture capitalists, the investments amount to $1.6 million, according to Venga.

In a statement, Bill Anton called Venga’s integrated system "the 'holy grail' for restaurants."
