Technomic and UniPro Foodservice Announce Strategic Alliance

CHICAGO (July 16, 2013 - PRNewswire)—Technomic, a leading research and consulting firm, and UniPro Foodservice, a foodservice distributor cooperative, have created a multifaceted strategic alliance designed to enhance the competitive position and effectiveness of UniPro’s 650 member companies in North America and abroad. The alliance will focus on developing and executing high-impact programs to demonstrably improve assortment, pricing, operating efficiency, vendor relationships and customer engagement. As part of this alliance, UniPro has joined the Steering Committee of Technomic’s Foodservice Category Management Institute

Bob Goldin, Executive Vice President of Technomic, strongly believes the alliance is timely and will deliver real value. “To survive and, in many cases flourish, in a very tough market environment, independent distributors have proven to be resilient and resourceful. Now that the market has stabilized, it is a great time for them to explore new growth initiatives, and we are delighted to be able to help UniPro members achieve meaningful and measurable profitable growth.”

According to Roger Toomey, President and CEO of UniPro, “Technomic brings us a 360-degree perspective on the industry, vast practical experience, thought leadership and unique resources. While our initial efforts will be on optimizing the category management opportunity, we will also be focusing on other major identified business enrichment programs.”
