Two Florida Distributors Join Produce Alliance

The new members are Downtown Produce of Melbourne and Produce Distribution Center of Jacksonville.

Founded in 1982, Downtown Produce of Melbourne's Gaylord and Jill Aker have worked hard to deliver only the best to their customers. Their two sons, Russell and Ian Aker, have assumed a majority of the responsibilities in the company.

Downtown Produce moved into its brand new 40,000-sq.-ft. fully refrigerated facility in early spring of 2005. Since then its business has grown approximately 25%, according to the group. Downtown Produce of Melbourne "market and more" offers a retail operation that sells a wide variety of specialty products including a full line of fresh dairy and cheeses, spices, herbs, beverages, frozen foods and much more. It has a deli that daily prepares and sells fresh dishes both hot and cold along with specialty coffees and smoothies.

Produce Distribution Center, Jacksonville, is owned and operated by Larry Movsovitz and his two sons, Seth and Max. The Produce Alliance said the Movsovitzes bring a history and reputation of integrity and service that has made the company one of the most successful and well known operators in the industry.

Produce Distribution Center has completely renovated its warehouse to include more than 30,000 sq. ft. of refrigerated space along with a repacking operation that packs several specialty packs of vegetables as well as tomatoes.
