U.S. Foodservice to Close NY Manufacturing Facility

In a letter to the mayor of the village of Scotia in the town of Glenville, company official were quoted as saying they're closing the SQP Manufacturing facility, which produces products such as straws and toilet tissue, located in the town's industrial park.

More than 100 people will lose their jobs as a result of the Columbia, MD-based company's decision.

According to the company's plan, the workers will be laid off by mid-February.

This past September, U.S. Foodservice's distribution center in Scotia transferred ownership to Bunzl.
