The Doritos Cool Ranch Papadia is Papa Johns’ latest flavor extension for its line of portable handhelds.

The pizza chain teamed up with Frito-Lay to create the limited-time item, which launches Monday and will run through July 23.

In the fast-food space, Taco Bell has frequently collaborated with Frito-Lay to create fan-favorite LTOs, one of the most successful being Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos. Now Papa Johns is applying a similar strategy and flavor profile to its newest Papadia.

The Papadia, which debuted in 2020, is a folded flatbread sandwich, made with Papa Johns pizza dough and filled with a variety of pizza toppings, then baked to order and served with a side of dipping sauce. At its introduction, the Papadia was available in four variations and created a whole new menu category for the Atlanta-based pizza chain. Ever since, Papadia LTOs have launched periodically, with the Doritos Cool Ranch Papadia the latest.

This one features pizza dough folded over chicken, beef, steak or other filling choices, then toasted and dusted with Doritos Cool Ranch seasoning. The specialty seasoning offers a chip-and-sandwich experience in every bite, said Kimberly Bean, Papa Johns' VP of menu strategy & calendar planning, in a statement.

“At Papa Johns, flavor exploration puts us at the forefront of our menu innovation, which is why we couldn’t be more excited to bring together our 'Better Ingredients. Better Pizza' promise with the iconic flavor of Doritos Cool Ranch to create this limited-time Papadia,” she said.

Papa Johns has been on a menu innovation roll, with this launch following on the heels of the Crispy Parm Pizza earlier this year and Papa Bowls and Papa Bites last year. In 2021, NY Style Pizza and Epic Stuffed Crust pizza joined the lineup.
