ID NEWS: Financial Times confirms industry expectations of new ceo at USF

The Financial Times has reported what industry sources told ID last week (ID Management Report, 8-22-03): Royal Ahold, Zaandam, The Netherlands, is considering candidates from outside its U.S. Foodservice (USF) unit to replace former USF CEO Jim Miller. Ahold reportedly has drawn up a "short list" with one "preferred candidate" to pick up the reins at the Columbia, MD, based distributorship.
Miller had resigned his post at the nation's second largest broadliner as a result of the accounting scandal in which the company became embroiled in February. Ahold's non-executive board is expected to meet on Wednesday to discuss the matter.
