Markon Launches Produce-centric Mobile App

SALINAS, CA (February 12, 2013)—Markon Cooperative, Inc., the produce source of eight independently owned foodservice companies, launched a mobile app that allows users to view a comprehensive produce guide, as well as a library of recipes that focus on fresh fruits and vegetables.

Markon is excited about this fun, educational tool available for free download from the company’s recently redesigned website, and via app marketplaces, including Apple’s app store and Google Play. The mobile app can be accessed using iPhones, iPads, Android smartphones and tablets, as well as Windows smartphones, and allows for quick and easy access to a wealth of produce-related information. In addition to being a complete fresh produce resource with recipe database, the app also contains many additional features, including the latest trends, hot tips, usage ideas, and nutritional information. The company will continue to build new features into this tool.

“Our industry, like the world, is moving at breakneck speed,” explains Markon President Tim York. “By creating an easy-to-use app that our produce buyers, sales teams, restaurant customers, and anyone with an interest in healthy food can access anywhere at any time, we aim to increase the visibility and consumption of fresh fruit and vegetable products.”

This app is part of a more extensive social media outreach program that also includes a Facebook page, LinkedIn presence, Twitter feed, YouTube channel, and the Seedlings blog.
