Wendy’s bringing back pretzel bun for limited time

Like a summer romance, Wendy’s pretzel bun was hot and short-lived last year.

But burger lovers who suffered broken hearts when Wendy’s pulled the thick, split-top bun from its menus can rejoice. By July 4, it’ll be back.

Wendy’s said yesterday that the Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger and Pretzel Pub Chicken sandwiches are returning. But once again, it’s just a summer engagement.

The sandwiches are expected to be discontinued in September, but last year Wendy’s kept them around through the fall because of high demand.

“Consumers made it clear we couldn’t say goodbye to the pretzel forever,” Craig Bahner, Wendy’s chief marketing officer, said in a news release.
