Duck Donuts saw sales slip slightly amid the pandemic last year, though it did add seven units and has grown sales by an average of 20% since 2018. It is primed to accelerate that growth with its sale to NewSpring Capital, a private-equity firm making a move into the franchise business. Initially concentrated along the East Coast, Duck has begun a Westward push, adding locations as far away as Southern California with others in between.
