Vinyl has had a certain following for some time now, but listening bars—common in Japan— are popping up across the U.S. From Bierwax in Brooklyn, New York, to Decibel Sound & Drink in Portland, Oregon, these bars with hi-fi sound systems can turn underutilized space into revenue generators. Electric Hospitality in Atlanta, for example, in 2022 converted an upstairs storage space above the restaurant Ladybird into Ranger Station, a cocktail lounge where vinyl is on the sound system. This year, the spot made Esquire’s Best Bars in America list.
